Care For Your Brows

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

DO NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session. This is a 2-step process, and sometimes it is a multiple-step process.

Immediately after your procedure (also days 2–5), brows will appear darker, solid, and painted on. We call this the “What did I do?” Phase. You may notice harsh edges and slightly different shapes on the brows—one may be slightly higher or longer than the other, or one side may seem to have more strokes, etc. This is normal. The skin swells and the brows are more prominent during healing. They may also have a RED tint due to skin irritation. Also, our pigment is pre-modified to ensure it doesn’t heal ashy in the skin. This will go away after they heal under the skin.

Once they have healed under the skin, the small things will not be noticeable and all the edges will soften. Any changes or add-ons can be made at your touchup—nothing can be changed or added until then. Please do not worry and call us during this healing process unless it is an emergency.

Around days 4–5, you may experience flaking and your brows may look dry. DO NOT PICK your flakes; let them fall off naturally. If it comes off prematurely, missing hair strokes will result and cause patchy brows.

BE PATIENT during your 2–3 week healing process. Your brows will change and appear different from day to day. THIS IS NORMAL. They may go through a “Disappearing Stage,” where the color may seem to have all faded away or faded in some areas. DO NOT WORRY, the skin is exfoliating and this is normal. Color will return at week 2–4. Any that does not return can be added at the touchup—no sooner.

Your brow tattoo will take up to 6–12 weeks to fully heal. When the crust comes off, the hair strokes may seem faint—this is because a fresh layer of skin has healed over the brow tattoo. Give your brows a few weeks, and the hair strokes will become clearer.

You may experience itchiness in the brows after 10 days and up to 2 months due to the healing of the dermal layer.

Not everyone’s brows heal clean and crisp. Hair strokes for oilier skin types tend to heal more solid and powdery, while drier skin types tend to heal more crisp and defined.

Brows: Touch Up

This is a 2 step process. The First Session is used to build shape and gain symmetry. The Second Session is used to perfect the brows and add density.

The FIRST TOUCH UP is done within the 12-15 weeks after the First Session. The fee for this is $75.00-100. It is your responsibility to book your touch up appointments. If your tattoo comes back too faded, additional charges may apply.

Do not expect perfect results after the first session. Darker skin women, permanent makeup will not look as bold or sharp compared to lighter skin clients. Some client’s skin may have a harder time retaining pigment and may require additional sessions.

Brows: Long Term Care

  1. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF RESULTS, everyone’s results will vary due to skin type, lifestyle, and the initial 10 day care and longterm care of your brow tattoo.
  2. Use at least SPF 30-50 to protect your brows. Sun exposure will cause fading and can alter the color of your tattoo.
  3. Do not use chemical exfoliants on the brows, this will cause the brows to fade faster.
  4. Do not do laser your brow area (IPL etc), some lasers may change the color of the ink.
  5. As the tattoo fades the strokes will get fainter and less defined.
  6. Maintenance is required to maintain desired results. Touchups are done on average every 12-24 months to maintain your brow tattoo. The fee for a color boost/refresher after 6 months is $250. $300 for combo brows. (Additional charges if done after 18months)
  7. Hairstroke brows typically last 6m-3 years.

Brows: Aftercare

THE DAY OF TREATMENT: Immediately after procedure, ABSORB. Gently blot the area with clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid (if any). Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph.

WEEK 1: DAYS 1 THROUGH 7

Cleanse and Moisturize! We will provide you with both products.

Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don’t worry… THIS DOES NOT REMOVE PIGMENT)

Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and antibacterial soap like Dial or Cetaphil. With a very light touch, use your finger to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. Very important to dry the brows! DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

Apply a rice grain amount of Aqauphor with a Q-Tip or clean fingers and spread it across the treated area – Apply 3-6 times daily! Start at 3, if it feels dry, patchy, itchy – up to 6 times. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo. If your brows are dry and itchy, this means you are not moisturizing enough.

WEEK 2: DAYS 7 THROUGH 14

Moisturize Three to Six times Daily, using Aquaphor.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BROW AFTERCARE:

  1. Use a fresh pillowcase
  2. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.
  3. NO facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for 2-4 weeks
  4. Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week
  5. Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 2 weeks after procedure

Wear a hat when outdoors

  1. Avoid heavy sweating and long, hot showers for the first 10 days
  2. Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days
  3. Avoid swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first ten days
  4. Avoid topical makeup, including sunscreen on the area
  5. DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area

ABOUT SHOWERING:

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure out of the water while you wash your body, then at the end of shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very last end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area. Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine you will have much better results with your microblading procedure. I have received aftercare instructions and will follow the instructions.
